Tom McBride

Tom grew up in Christchurch. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance, Accounting, and Information Systems from the University of Canterbury. After completing his studies, Tom became an Associate Chartered Accountant and later obtained the NZX Diploma and the NZX Adviser qualification. These qualifications form the foundation of his expertise in investment advice, financial planning, retirement planning, and KiwiSaver guidance.
As an industry expert, Tom frequently contributes to media discussions, having appeared live on CNBC and offered market insights to publications such as the National Business Review (NBR), BusinessDesk, and The Press. He has also been a guest on The Real Solutions Business Podcast by Godfreys Law, where he discussed the journey behind McBride Wealth and the importance of independent financial advice. In addition to his media work, Tom has contributed to the University of Canterbury School of Business through workshop sessions with finance students, sharing practical insights on investment advice and the realities of working in the financial services industry. He also participated in mock interviews as part of their professional development programme.
From 2016 to 2022, Tom volunteered his time and expertise as Investment Advisor to The Little Company of Mary, a New Zealand charity dedicated to supporting the sick and dying through community engagement and subsidised retirement care. This experience strengthened his belief in the importance of service, compassion, and community involvement.
Outside of his professional life, Tom is passionate about surfing, mountain biking, and long‑distance running. In 2022, he took a sabbatical to challenge himself by running several of New Zealand’s Great Walks, completing the Tongariro Northern Circuit, Lake Waikaremoana, Abel Tasman Coast Track, and Kepler Track. More recently, Tom completed the Craigieburn Valley Ultra.

Olivia grew up in Christchurch. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Bachelor of Science (BSc), majoring in Psychology from the University of Canterbury. After completing her studies, she moved to Australia, where she worked for the State Government in Western Australia and began building her experience in project management and policy development. During this time, she also gained experience in charity governance as a director of a not‑for‑profit organisation. She is an enrolled barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and the Supreme Court of Western Australia, both non‑practising.
Olivia has worked across Western Australia and New Zealand in roles supporting boards, senior leaders, managing projects, and developing policy frameworks. At McBride Wealth, she leads operations across the business, overseeing systems, processes, compliance, communications and marketing, and the day‑to‑day functions that support the delivery of high‑quality financial advice.
Outside of her professional life, Olivia is married with two young children and runs a small flower business, growing and selling seasonal cut flowers from her home garden. She enjoys travelling, spending time in her garden, yoga, and exploring the outdoors with family and friends.
